Preparing The Garden Area For Next Spring

First I`d like to say thank you for all the good wishes for our little trip. It really was a fun time.
Last week I went out back and added more garbage bags to the area to kill the grass. It looks terrible right now but I can envision how it could look with curved edges and the garden wider, beginning by the trellis instead of how it looks now to even it out to the eye. We`re going to extend the brick patio out around the raised vegetable garden, having the widest part coming from the little pathway out of the walled garden area. My brother still has about 200 more bricks and with those plus more loose ones we can gather, there should be enough to finish it.
I think I`d like to try making a potager type garden, having both vegetables and flowers here. Then on the extra patio part, place potted veg and flowers around with some herbs. Along the fence I`ve thought of planting some climbing things, maybe a rose or two, Clematis, Climbing Hydrangea and some vines to take away the rustic look in that spot a little.
This is just a picture I found from a gardening info site, but it looks so cozy...

If only I could have some inspiration, at the moment I've got things in the garden, but it doesn't seem to be 'going where I want it'... such is the nature of things I suppose. One thing I'd really like to add to the garden is some sort of permanent seating area, much as we saw when the husband and I were on honeymoon. Made from stone, it had a curved back and seat, and was cemented so it was pretty permanent. I loved it and so did he, we just need the expertise to construct it!

Your garden is gorgeous though, I'd love to have another path in our garden and some sort of screen to separate the garden into 'rooms'.

Will you be joining the Bloggers' Breakfast?

Tea,
Sounds like you've got a detailed plan worked out for Spring. Now you've got the winter to refine it.
I can see you browsing through gardening and landscaping mags now. ;-)
Looking forward to following your progress.

That is going to be a wonderful garden spot. And your idea of extending the brik sounds very nice, too.

The photo from the gardening site is so beautiful. If I had a garden like that I'd never go inside!

It's a nice flat spot, and should be easy to tend. I have lots of space, but my garden slopes and is hard to keep it watered as it runs off. Maybe I should spend the winter working out a plan, terrace it maybe. I think yours is going to be very successful.

T, baby, email me! I can't find your e-addy anywhere, though I know I had it!
It must've imploded....

tjjzgeix: the sound an email address makes when it implodes and disintegrates forevermore from your ebox.

The garden in the photo is nice, potagers are a lot of work but the end result is very attractive, you're going to be busy in the spring I think! I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas take shape.
