I Almost Threw This Away!

I have a bookcase sitting in the hall that is made higher with my old hope chest. It all needed refinishing and while I was cleaning out the chest of old blankets, I came across an ugly purple satin pillow. "What was I thinking when I made that?", I thought as I tossed it into the garbage bag. "Must have been in my Feng Shui period". Then for some reason I pulled it out again to investigate what was underneath....more out of curiosity than anything. Below is what I found! It`s a cross stitch I did about sixteen years ago. If I finish cross stitching the grey area which I never finished,in old rose or green or something and make it into a new pillow in another fabric, it will match the evenual colour change in the frontroom.... this will be perfect! I envision having some nice vintage dog prints framed on the walls and low and behold here`s just the thing to add! Won`t be for awhile, this project though....too much else to do yet.

The wallpapering is almost finished now, but the books all have to come out of the other two bookcases to get at the rest of the wall and the old green carpet is being torn up and the same as the kitchen put down. Bit by bit, piece by piece, without having to empty out the whole room. What a job this is going to be! It`s a very large area, plus the hall. Off will go the throw rugs to get a proper clean. Will have to purchase one of those old fashioned dust mops and most likely live with a bare hall floor for awhile until we can get a runner. Boy, will I be glad to lose that ancient carpet though! It was nice when it was new, but after almost 20 years,it`s definately had it`s day.

Admit it. . .you're being chased by the Martha Stewart police again, arent' you? You're obviously not doting on those lovely cats and Elvis enough. Besides, you're makin' the rest of us look like slackers. There must be something wrong with your Springemometer...there's at least another 3 months of nose deep snow before spring around here, so stop bragging! Brooke

Can't wait to see the wallpapering Tea. Cute crossstitch dog! I need to get busy at our house too. If I would buy a can of paint, that would probably do it, just keep putting it off!

Be very careful what you throw out, T&M - that crossstitching can't be replaced.

Tea...I want some of your energy..!
I have so much to do, lots of incentive, but no energy..
The cross stitch is lovely, and will make a cute pillow.

Oh Miss Tea! =^..^=

What a delight to find you ...
I've had such a grand time reading through
your blog and seeing all you are doing ...
Spying wonderful things everywhere (Hi Elvis!)

Oh. My. Goodness.
The pictures of the garden.
The purrsons IN the garden (Hi Angus!)

::SIGH::

All the lovely brickwork (lucky you! Used bricks!)
I have poked my nose in every remodel in the
neighborhood and town watching for more!
More is NEVER enough when it is old brick!

And Buddleia davidii ... Like yours ...
SOooo pretty. If you can find the fountain
variety (alternifolia) BUY IT! :: trust me ::

It is the one with the long draping spikes of lavendar flowers that smell of cloves as you walk by ...
I have several & want more! --
It's a magnet to everything flying & wonderful.
(it's big though ...about 10 feet) Hi Teddy!

Now ... if you run out of projects at your cottage
head on over to mine. I promise lots of work ::giggle::
Isobell can supervise along with my Jennabelle
and be totally ::ahem:: helpful ::grin::

Miss Tea, I was thrilled to see you visit my blog
You are most welcome to stop by anytime ...
The kettle is always on ... Help yourself.
Then follow the path around back ...
I'm probably in the garden. Dreaming.

So good to meet you!

Oh I am sooo glad you rescued your doggy cross stitch before he got thrown away! I find things like that in thrift shops and it just breaks my heart, knowing all the work that goes into them. Hope you aren't planning to turf any more like that out!
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. Yeah, Ken and I have a thing about black cats too!
