Dogs , Cats, Chairs and Bistros...

I found some gorgeous fabric off E-Bay and decided to do those two old chairs in it. I haven`t quite figured out how to match this fabric up with anything yet. I`ll have to do some experimenting.
"Eh? You mean I actually have to move?"

It`s called Country House Toile by Waverly in Indigo. Not normally a blue person, this is a prettier blue than any indigo I`m familiar with. It` almost a jade blue, yet not quite. The fabric was going to be for pillows or something originally but I loved it so much I had to use it in a big way. This picture shows the true colour the best..

Only one done and while putting the cording on to cover the staples, I broke the darn glue gun. So there`s no trim around the top part yet. One more to go, but I have to wait for the extra fabric to arrive anyway. I had enough left over from two yards to cover a couple of throw pillows for the front room. They go nice with the olivey green couch and muted reds. Told ya I was revamping things :) Eventually I might even have it all finished and show some pics.
"Well, I suppose it IS pretty...." thinks Elvis. It looks more like he`s pulling a face at it though LOL

"But can you believe this? Now what`s she going to do with these chairs? She never mentioned anything about blue. What`s going to go with this?"

Hubby has been creating a web page in his free time. It`s called www.RateBistros.com Once it gets going, a fun and useful place for anyone looking for a good place to eat or has something to say about one. It`s still all very new and he needs to get the data base going more. So if you wouldn`t mind going on over and adding your favorite eating spot, whether a bistro or restaurant, he`d be pleased. The address is http://www.ratebistros.com/

At the moment it`s only for Canada and the States, but maybe in the future he will be adding more countries.
I`m having a fairly productive week off and it`s already Wednesday, sigh.
Hope everyone is having a nice week :)

you did that chair yourself... wow! that's amazing...
Nutnut (my kind of ex) and I were going to do a course in upholstering once... she was well into that type of thing. we got a huge granny chair from the street. it sat in her "drawing room" for ages but never got done. then she threw it out in one of her periodic rages ...

... n.e. way just passing by ... saying hi ... hey you're in my blog "roll" now ... sorry it took ages to sort out. i am crap like that... so you watch corrie do you? d'you know is it up to date with us? we get an aussie soap called neighbours and it used to be 3 years behind when they 1st started showing it. now i think we somehow caught up bc of the british appetite for watching rubbish!

hoping you're having a pleasant day
it's gone really hot here

all the best

Your chair is fabulous. I like the idea of the ratebistros site. I am from the UK and would definately add bistros and cafes that my husband and I go to. Just let me know if you expand it to the UK.

What a wonderful transformation, those chairs wouldn't look out of place in a French chateau now! You've made a lovely job of them. I think Elvis can hardly believe they are the same chairs:)

Tres beautiful and bravo for having enough left over to do a couple of throw pillows! The chair you finished (almost...danged glue gun) looks really nice.

My grandmother loved to reupholster her furniture. I recall something she told me that helped me when I decided tackling a big project. She said that the first piece off is the last piece on. I'd use the old upholstery for my patterns and number them as they came off so I could put them back on in reverse order. Worked like a charm. Grandmothers are very wise women.

I popped over to the bistro site. Nice, very nice. I like the lay-out. The color choices are clean and the graphics/images work very well. I hope that it fulfills his dream. He's done a wonderful job.

ciao bella~

You are getting closer and closer to nature TEAS, i thought the old chairs look good, but you had some wonderful ideas in your head. They look lovely now

Hi Tea, I think Elvis is probably thinking that you don't know what chairs are for, they are for lounging around in and sleeping in, and not for covering and stuff like that. Bob.

I love your fabric! It is so perfect with that style chair and you did a fabulous job covering it. I can't wait to see where you place it. The picture of your kitty really gave me a laugh. What a flirt ;o)
