Come Back Here Spring , Happy Easter and the Couch Begins

Hope everyone has a nice Easter weekend. The snow is back once again here, hopefully for the last time. I took this picture below the other day.....

And this one yesterday. Hope the snow doesn`t ruin the flowers....

Today we go to my brother and sister-in-laws for supper in Toronto. But yesterday I found some time to try to start making slip covers for the couch. I`ve washed the sheets to soften them and just in case they shrink a bit. I`ll do that with all the fabric beforehand for each piece of furniture. Teddy is the star of these pictures mostly. I have no idea really what I`m doing but hopefully it all turns out in the end. Here are a few steps. If all ends well, I`ll put all the steps together eventually. I used an old tablecloth for the underside in which the cushions will sit on top. Not sure about the fuschia as a small accent. I`m still thinking about accent colours. We need an area rug to match this green and then it`s best to go from there I think as I`d originally planned until these sheets came about on sale....

Teddy was sitting here before I started and is very persistant that he will not be moved regardless of how many times I remove him LOL.....

I wanted to see what the trim looked like against the arm. I know it should have been the other kind that sews right in the fabric but this was cheap and I`ll stitch it on with heavy duty thread. The colour is more green than the beige showing here....

The bottom front will be hemmed and all ironed up, but oh no.....another helper has arrived......

After cutting a circle of fabric and making a hole in the middle, I stitched it to make gathers and covered some buttons to stick in the middle....

The button is more in the centre than this picture shows. Due to the light streaming through the window I had to take it on a small angle. Once I sew this part, I`ll baste the rest and hope that I can get it off and on from the back. That part could be very interesting. I`m definately going to have to have seperate pieces as you can see here. That bottom part, once stitched will no way stretch over the fat arm! Yes....this is going to be interesting, but being the fickle person that I am, I want them to come off to wash of course but also maybe someday be able to change them back and forth to another set. yeah, right....as if I`ll attempt all this work again LOL. But you never know....

A stubborn and content cat....

Ignore that horrid old green piece of cloth thrown on an ugly table but look....
After posting all this I walked into the frontroom and there he is again......

You're so clever. I wish you could come over here and tell me what to do...

And Teddy is also very clever. Isn't it funny how -- when they want something... they are so persistent. He wanted to sit THERE on THAT clean fabric.

I finished painting the dining room -- yay! I thought I would never get it done.

Now it's time to fill the pots on my patio and organize them... that's the extent of my garden design.

I hope you get some warm spring weather soon.

I love your sofa covers - and Angus's expression, whilst hunting for a piece of thread to play with. Very sweet!

Don't worry about the crocuses, they'll be fine with a bit of snow - although ours are over here and we're enjoying long, bright sunny days - bliss!

Have a great easter!

Happy Easter, and I hope that weather gets warmer

Teddy was an upholsterer in a previous life...!
He is merely supervising your work, and it appears you are both doing a great job.
I wouldn't know where to begin, fortunately for me, my husband does.
Wishing you a Happy Easter with your brother and SIL.

Teddy is such a sweetie pie! Our Lulu is exactly the same. She snaps at us when we try to move her. She moves when she wants. Period!

Come back spring!

Happy Easter Tea! Hugs and kisses.

My goodness, you're crafty. The cat is probably just making sure you do everything to its satisfaction. Cats are picky.

It's supposed to snow here too. Ugh. This weather is ridiculous in April.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter dear Tea!

I'm so sorry about your cold weather! My cousin, who lives in Toronto with his family, was complaining about the cold weather too in his Easter mail . Also I saw the snow on Naturegirls blog. So fingers crossed for a warm spring breeze for all you dear Canadian people soon! Hugs Carol xox

P.S. Oh could you come and make this with my sofa too please? My cat loves to scratch on it grrrrr

Here on the South Coast in Hampshire, the weather is gloriously sunny. The wind however is cold. But the garden looks so bare that tommorrow I garden!
Carol go to the pet shop and you can buy a spray to deter the cat from scratching the sofa. It's sprayed on the fabric and the smell is supposed to put them off.Good luck!
Those cats look so lovely that you could just hug them.

Hi tea, thanks for dropping by and saying hello.
Wow, I so admire anyone who attempts to make slipcovers. I've wanted to for years, but find the thought of it intimidating. I love the color green. Nature shows us that it "goes with everything".
Love your sweet helpers! I have one that like to lend a paw or two now and then too!

Oh my, you are so brave and so clever to tackle such a job! It's looking great so far, and I'm sure the finished project will be something for you to be proud of. I love seeing the pictures you post of your animal family. Oh how I miss not having pets at home!

Your cats look so cosy, my sister puts a bow around hers and prettifies him, his name is Kevin, but it could be Nancy.

We have had a heatwave here in the UK, and there is more to come.

Hope you had a lovely Easter.

Those plants look nice in the snow. And the wrought iron does too. I love wrought iron pictures.

Your decorating is coming along well!!! Even Teddy seems to give it the kitty seal of approval! The covers look really nice - nobody will ever guess that they began life as something else!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter! We should have sun any day now (I hope!)

That looks great so far. Keep us updated. I plan on slipcovering my couch this summer. I'm going to take a week off work to do it. I'm so impressed with yours!
