Shnoozin' and Stuff

It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday and the snow is finally melting......

Teddy was the first to enjoy sunning himself on the old couch put back by the window...........

Someone else thought it a grand idea.........

The floor is almost finished. Just the edges left to do. The furniture is put back but the room is stripped bare of everything else. A few throw pillows are off to my sister because they`ll match her black couch. It`s easier to picture future decor in my mind`s eye without any old frills on furniture, floor or walls. Keep it stripped as bare as possible for now. This being decorating on a budget, I`m starting with pieces I already have that only need a bit of paint to change them. Then next will come the fabrics, bit by bit. The couch and chairs, a couple lampshades etc re-covered. That will be a huge project but fun if I can make the paper patterns correct. The curtains. A window ledge on the new window. Plants. Prints for the walls. Then one area rug to start. Bit by bit it`ll all come together. There won`t be a "room picture" for a good while but there can be pictures of the bits and pieces as I go that will be in the room. Then one day I can show it all together. I`m really excited about this one. Part of the fun is in the planning and imagining it unfold.

Looking through all my magazines, I couldn`t find much of what I was looking for. But this picture held me for some reason. The colours are much nicer than the camera could capture but it gives an idea. I`m going to use it as a jump off point by imagining what the room behind those nice green doors might look like. How it might visually flow out to this quaint and peaceful little area. What would it look like? Hmmmmmmm......loads to contemplate and plan.
We went to see Number 23 last night with Jim Carrey. The movie was interesting with some plot twists but not one I would say "you just have to see this movie!". He did a good job playing such a serious part.
Hope everyone is having a really nice weekend :)

What a lovely picture...I adore places like that. I'm saving the pic to my favs also. Being shoestring decorators ourselves (well perhaps 'shoestring' is a bit ambitious. Love the snoozing kitties ;)Your snow's melting but we have a blizzard warning out for the next 2 days...so much for spring, lol

Love the pictures of Angus and Teddy - cats always look so relaxed and comfortable don't they? I like the room picture, it's a good idea to start without the previous ornaments etc. I can never imagine my rooms any way but as they are so I think I may try that as well because I'd like to change things round. We got snow yesterday, not much thank goodness but enough to mean no gardening.

Oh yes, isn't the sunshine and melting snow wonderful! It's snowing again this morning, but they say it will turn to rain this afternoon and wash it all away.

That's a lovely room - very restful and relaxing! You'd better have a green thumb to have that many plants though! My thumb is decidely towards the shades of black, pity any plant that comes to live with me!!

Love the photos of the cats enjoying the sunshine. What a life they have!!!

Hi Tea,
Sounds like it's coming along. My schedule of painting fell behind this weekend. I'll post all about it a bit later today.
Glad to see your snow melting. Today is 50!!! No snow and sunshine. :) It's hard to focus on the inside of the house. But today, I'm finally painting the art room. It should be done later.
The cats looks so comfy. :) You have so many neat ideas. I wish we were closer and you could do some consulting.
Hugs. Have a great week. :)

Hello Tea...
Pleased to hear the project is coming along. I do agree that it is exciting when you do changes at home and like ours too, they can take a long time.

John and I are contemplating taking a wall down between the sitting room and dining room, we shall get the help of builders this time, normally we tackle such things ourselves. However, I can’t cope with the mess right now, maybe in the summer sometime.

Love the pictures of the snoozing cats, not a care in the world!!! Marion

The cats have the right idea. Napping in the sunshine is bliss.
Your decorating is coming along then...I look forward (as I'm sure you do!)to seeing photos of the finished project.
The room illustration you show is a nice inspirational photo, I find they help sometimes.

I am sure the room when finish will be what you always wanted. My wife did the same with our bedroom and it turned out exactly like the picture she had.

In deep depression. The photo of the beautiful, clean, perfect snow being consumed by the hot sweaty soon to be summer. Ugggh! I'm going into hibernation until the Fall.
