Snow Day

I`m back with a few pictures of what our day here is like in Ontario because we`re having a snow day. We were going to Oshawa for the hubbies yearly family re-union Christmas dinner that`s held in a pretty little church basement. Luckily I was the one bringing the jelly salad and a few cookies and not the turkey. They don`t expect many to make it this year though. There have been over 200 flights cancelled at the Toronto airport and I imagine a lot of disappointed people. Hope everyone is safe. Bad time for storms...this time of the year when there`s so many Christmas do`s.

Yesterday we went under my parents bird tree and it was really something to see the chickadees fluttering around to each house. They were almost tame compared to the giant sized blue jays and the woodpeckers, who stayed away. The chickadees wings gave a tiny wuurrrring sound as they flew about.

My dad gave me this cute little bird house so I could watch the birds. I took this about 7 am this morning when it was freezing rain outside....

And this was it two hours later...

The rest are from around 10 am and it`s still snowing. No bare feet in the driveway this Christmas sis!

The weather report is saying that this is the worst winter storm in decades so please don`t go out on the roads if you`re getting this one. It`s a doozey.

If you click on this picture you can see the tiny chickadee that stood still long enough for me to snap a picture. The best birds pics are the ones I didn`t take because of course I didn`t have my camera LOL

The back garden. It`s now about a foot of snow.

Last trip out the snow was up to Elvis` belly. Here, earlier, it`s on it`s way...

"Here I come!"

Being so time and energy challenged, when I couldn`t find the thingy that hooks over the top of the door to hang the wreath on, I stuck it on the grill...

I think I want to make Christmas cards for next year out of this picture of Elvis. He may not be centred, but it`s one of his prettiest. He`s such a sweet boy. A "hog dog"..... a "getting in the garbage dog"...an "I`m starving to death dog" but a sweet boy. If you click on it you can see his expression...

It`s all pretty out there if you`re safe at home, but it`s cozy inside......

Have a really nice and really safe weekend everyone. I think I`ll go curl up and continue reading Sylvia Brown`s "the Other Side and Back".
And Merry Christmas again!

Wow, you are really getting the snow. God bless dogs - they love snow. At least Penny does. She could go lay down on a snow bank and be happy.

Gracie, not so much. But she's the "I'm hungry" dog at our house. We call her a "Starvin' Marvin" (not).

The dogs are dragging in mud here today, as what little snow we had melts.

We've got snow, and sleet here. Mostly snow. I was hoping for another warm December this year, but I guess it's not to be. That stove looks so inviting! :)

That certainly was a lot of snow on the weekend. Love the picture of your door, and it's a great picture of Elvis. We had our fire going on the weekend as well.

It's been a busy month, but I'll be in touch in January to set a date to get together.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, and best wishes for the new year!

All in all, the last picture says home more than any I've seen lately.

I hope you all are warm, comfy and safe. Have a wonderful Christmas and a great '08!

Although, I hope to see you before the calendar flips.

If you get a chance, how about coming on over and using the email link in my profile...

I think that photo of Elvis would be a perfect Christmas card! We got what you got, only in a smaller dose. Maybe 6" of snow fell late Fri. into Sat., with lots of cancellations. Another one predicted for this coming week-end...not good for those with Christmas travel plans. Fortunately, all our kids come to us!

Hey Tea, looking at all your photos made me feel like I was in a store looking at Christmas cards!! I just cannot begin to imagine how cold that would be outside - how on earth do you guys keep your houses warm?? We have nothing like that - here in Melbourne it is summer of course, and we've been sweltering up until today when there was a violent thunderstorm complete with hail and rain, which cooled things down somewhat. Christmas Day's forecast is for a top temperature of 25 deg.C (approx. 70 deg.F).

I hadn't heard of chickadees, they look very similar to our coal-tits, such lovely things to watch if they are anything like ours!

You're lucky to get such wonderful snow - we don't get that much though this year is a lot colder than last Winter when I was hanging washing out and picking roses in the middle of December (I'm not kidding!).

Enjoy cuddling up in front of that fire and make the most of having a cuddly hot-water bottle like Elvis! That is what dogs are for (at least in our house)!

And if I don't get to catch up with you beforehand, Merry Christmas!

Hubby was shovelling most of the afternoon! I was dismissed because of a sore back!
Love the picture of the bird house before and after with snow!

You are one dreamy sweet puppers.

Tea, that is the picture of the year! His face says it all ... and the wreath behind him, a Christmas treasure!

My feet are SOooo cold though from just looking at the pictures of your winter wonderland. Maybe it's the weather here contributing ... I can't seem to get warm no matter how my pair of socks!

Here the gardens are a flitter with chickadees and titmice everywhere too ... I fill the feeders and warm the baths twice a day. It's going to be a long cold storm when the birds don't go into hiding to wait it out ::sigh::

Make a cuppa of something hot and yummy and ask the 4-legged kids to move over & make room ... The perfect book reading spot is a place in front of that fire!

Truthfully, I have my stack of books beside me, my wish ::hint::hint:: curled at my feet & enough beeswax candles to light the neighborhood. I am enjoying every bit of winter so far ... But don't ask me in February. I'll be grumbling by then for sure!
