Last of the Garden Bounty and Bringing in the Herb Pots

It seems I`ve ended up only blogging once a week for the past while and for now, I think I`ll stay with that. Life gets busy and I`ve found that I haven`t even been able to visit all the blogs I like to visit. Maybe I can work on that one soon. Slow connection makes it really hard with using dial-up. It takes forever to load anything and trying to comment takes three attempts usually :(
Below is the last of the garden bounty. Sad to see summer gone. We`ll sure miss those sweet tomatoes....

I brought the herbs inside last week. They look a little worse now than here. Some are still hanging in, so we`1l see what happens. I don`t really expect them to live because the only big window available is to the West and I`ve read one needs a North or South facing one. Here`s the Italian parsley and Oregano.....

Sages and mints and rosemary....

More mints and sages and the white pot ....I thought "what the heck, it`s nice a green" is sweet woodruff. One of the easiest plants to grow outside and gets tiny amazingly sweet smelling white flowers. I`ve got tons outside and have many a time pulled some up and plopped it down somewhere else and it carries on as if it`s never been disturbed...

Hubby snapped this pic. Elvis is trying to eat and someone is trying to sneak a bite. Elvis wouldn`t snap at Teddy, but I did move him away anyway. That little stool, my Mum gave me and it`s Teddy`s at the moment, to aid the old guy in getting to his own dish that`s out of hungry dog`s reach. I`m going to re-cover it when I get a chance....

Tonight we`re going to a party that`s helping to raise money for juvenile diabetes. The tickets are sold out and there`s going to be 5 bands playing. One of them is Helix, a Canadian band from Hamilton that made it quite big in the 80`s. Should be fun!
I tried looking to see what the Royal family thought of that statue of Prince Harry, but couldn`t find a thing. Maybe silence was what they chose for that one.
Yesterday was the day immigrants became Canadian citizens here in Canada and I listened to some of it on the radio at work. They named off the countries and it seemed there was someone from practically every country in the world! Amazing. Hearing how they pledge allegiance to Canada and our Queen Elizabeth and listening to some of the stories of why they came here.
We`re all immigrants here. The only true Canadians are the North American Indians. A shame they aren`t respected better throughout North America. They deserve to be.
Anyway, hope everyone has a fantastically fun or wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Oh I am sad to see summer go! I love fall too... but all the fresh fruit and veg gone :-(
The last of your veg looks great! You will have to enjoy every bite next summer is a long ways away.

looks/sounds like you had a good "crop" this summer. Savor the last few that you have left for this season!

What a crop, it looks delicious. We just picked the last of the tomatoes and pulled up the plants, the runner beans and the potatoes. Sad, but I love Autumn.

Love the photo of Elvis - what a well-behaved boy!

Was that purple basil I spotted in your bountiful harvest? Mmmm, purple basil makes a nice finishing touch to a chicken & veggie stir-fry with oyster sauce as the main flavouring. Topped with cashews, of course.

I wish everyone thought the way you do about immigrants and North American Indians. We would hear far fewer ignorant comments if more people felt that way.

Oh lovely pics of Autumns harvest! by the way I hear what you are saying in your previous post about the Prince Harry thing, you have no idea how much stick those boys get from the English press to start with, but a piece of "art" depicting him dead? really bad taste, those boys are just boys, they didnt choose to be born royals.

I think your a marvel to even consider blogging on dial up! Well done. The last of your summer bounty looks delicious and your herbs should survive, most of them are perrenials.
Sweet picture of Elvis and Teddy, in our house it would be the dogs trying to get the cat food, that is if they dare. Poor old Beebs is somewhat afraid of Jasper!

I'm trying to think back... did they say anything about Prince Harry? I don't remember reading or hearing any "response" from the young Prince, so ...

I'm glad to see you don't seem to feel too guilty for posting only when it's convenient for you~ that's how it should be! I myself have been feeling the crunch, and have posted less....it's nice to live 'off-line' more! :)

How sad to see the garden end. It looks like you grew quite a few veggies.

I hope your herbs make it through the winter. I don't try anymore because mine never do, but you may have better luck.

I tried to leave you a comment last night to commiserate with you about the trials and tribulations of dial-up ... but I couldn't get to your comments!!!! I don't know how you manage to upload pictures with a dial-up connection, I tried a while ago and finally gave up. I do mine from work when I have a chance at lunch time.

Were you listening to CBC radio about Citizenship Week? I heard piece of them the day they broadcast the citizenship court. A lot people in this world are decendants of immigrants at some point in time. Some of us are just more recent than others. I had a little chuckle to myself when I became Canadian and had to pledge allegiance to the same Queen I'd always had!

The produce from your garden looks wonderful!

You know what you were saying about True Canadians? ... well the True Brits were (aparentlyl) the Welsh but no-one here EVER gives them credit for that! EVER!!

D'you wanna do my weekend meme BTW? Just go to my place and answer: Who was your favourite childhood Bear?

Gardening is so rewarding, isn't it? I wish I could make the time to do it lately... I'm burning the candle at both ends AND the middle. :P Hope you had fun at the party!

Isn't it funny how once you get going in blogging it can eat up so much time trying to visit all those wonderful people who visit you? I think you are being sensible in posting once a week when you are as busy as I think you must be from all that you have posted before. I sure can empathize with you having tried to do visit, comment and post using slow, slow, slow dial-up from the Kahshe Cottage.

Your garden has sure been bountiful!!!
